CreateUpon helps you show learners where AI played a part in your course. You can label individual images as AI-generated, add an optional AI notice to the cover page, and let CreateUpon record machine-readable AI provenance in the images it creates and in your course exports.
You can mark any image in a lesson as AI-generated, whether CreateUpon created it or you uploaded it from another tool. Images that come from the CreateUpon generate or edit flows are labeled for you, and you can set the label by hand on any other image.
Select the image in your lesson.
Click the Media options button on the image.
Turn on the AI-generated toggle.
When the label is on, learners see a small AI-generated badge in the corner of the picture. The label works on every image type, including block and inline images, images with text, images with markers, flip card faces, card backgrounds, carousel slides, and quiz images.
A course can use AI for more than images, such as generated text and narration. You can add an optional course-level notice to the cover page so learners know that parts of the course were created with AI. This setting is off by default and is set for each course on its own.
Open the cover page in the course editor.
Turn on the AI notice toggle.
When the setting is on, the cover page shows the line "Parts of this course were created with AI." The notice is translated into every course language CreateUpon supports, so it appears in the language of your course.
Note The AI notice toggle sits next to the Table of Contents and Time to complete toggles on the cover page.
To support transparency rules such as Article 50 of the EU AI Act, CreateUpon records machine-readable details about how AI content was made. This happens automatically, and you do not need to do anything.
For every image CreateUpon generates or edits, it writes standard IPTC and XMP metadata into the image file. The picture itself is not changed, and no pixels are altered.
Generated images are marked as trained algorithmic media.
Edited images are marked as a composite that includes trained algorithmic media.
Note This metadata describes how the file was made, so CreateUpon writes it only for images it produced. It is separate from the AI-generated label you control, and it cannot be switched off.
When you export a course, CreateUpon adds AI provenance to the export. SCORM packages carry an LOM description in the manifest and a generator note in the course HTML, and any export that contains AI-labeled content is flagged as AI-labeled.
