As you build a lesson, the editor gives you three kinds of control: format selected text, insert new elements, and edit any element you have added. This article covers each, then the extra controls for column layouts. For the top bar and the tool rail around the editor, see Course editor navigation.
Select any text to open the formatting bar. From it you can:
• Change the block: turn text into a heading (levels 1 to 3) or body text, or into a bullet, numbered, or check list.
• Apply Bold, Italic, Underline, Strikethrough, or Code.
• Set the font, the text color, and a highlight color.
• Add a link.
• Set the text alignment.
• Select Edit with AI to rewrite or change the selected text in plain language.
On an empty line, select the plus or type / to open the insert menu. Elements are grouped by type:
• Text: headings, body text, and lists.
• Media: Image, Image with Markers, Image with Text, Video, and Audio.
• Quiz: the quiz question types you can drop into a lesson.
• Interactive: Button, Flip cards, Carousel, Chart, Embed HTML, Code, and Table.
• Section: Columns and Callout, plus a divider.

Hover over or select any element you have added to reveal its floating menu. Every element shares the same core controls:
• A drag handle to move the element.
• A menu of options for that element, such as its color or alignment.
• Edit with AI.
• A comment control, on elements that support comments.
• Delete.
A column layout places content side by side and adds controls at its edges. With the layout selected:
• Move up and Move down reorder the layout among the other blocks.
• The column counter adds or removes columns with the plus and minus buttons, up to eight.
• Dragging a column outside of its column layout creates another column layout.
• The grip at the bottom sets a minimum height: drag it up or down.
Select a single column for its own controls: set its background color, set how content aligns across and down from a nine-position grid, drag the handle to reorder it or the divider between columns to resize, and use Delete column to remove it. Deleting the only column removes the layout.
